ACE Mentor Houston’s Building Blocks Breakfast and Mentor Awards Honor Local Architectural, Engineering & Construction Professionals

HOUSTON, TX – 10 Mar, 2017 – ACE Mentor Houston held its annual Building Blocks Breakfast on Tuesday, February 21st at the Junior League of Houston.  The event honors the contributions and dedication of the local mentor teams and awards are presented to the mentors of the year.  The winners this year are Shelley Reese, Mentor of the Year, representing the downtown Houston location and Robert Odhiambo, Rookie Mentor of the Year, representing the Galena Park location.

With more than 280 students being mentored throughout Houston, ACE Mentor Houston is one of the largest ACE affiliates in the country.  This years’ special guest speakers included former mentees Radina Khalid and Allison Reyes with the keynote given by Diana Eidenshink, Interim Executive Director, ACE Mentor Program of America who spoke about the national initiatives, including summer programs and scholarships.

“Our mentors give their time, energy and talents to the kids of Houston every week.  We are excited to have an opportunity to celebrate all of our incredible mentors.  Hearing the students talk about their experience and how it has affected their future, really brings a new appreciation for what are mentors are doing. We are proud of how strong our affiliate has become and we are starting to see it reflect in our industry on a professional level,” said Angela Cotie, ACE Houston Affiliate Chairman of the Board.
