The Chula Vista Elementary School District Leads the Way for South County

April 19, 2017 – California’s department of Education test scores show Chula Vista Elementary School District outperforming the other districts within South County. Impressively, CVESD was able to increase their English test scores by 7% this past year, while also surpassing their County’s average score by 6%. When compared to the state average English scores, 62% of CVESD students passed or exceeded standards, while only 49% of students in California were able to meet these marks.

These increased test scores can be seen across the board, CVESD has been able to maintain scores exceeding the state’s averages in math as well. The district produced a high math average of 49% of students passing or exceeding standards, while California’s average of 37% and the South County’s of 44% proved CVESD to be a clear leader.

CVESD is becoming a trailblazer in producing higher test averages for their County. Students continued to show their development through increased scores, helping establish higher standards and expectations for their county while also working towards closing the achievement gap for California. CVESD, as a top tier district with in the South County, has been recognized both on a state and national level for these accomplishments.

Having that CVESD is the largest Elementary school district in California with 30,000 students and 46 schools, their test scores demonstrate their proficiency throughout the district. In addition, one third of CVESD students are English language learners. These students at CVESD have proven to excel through the many dual language immersion programs the district offers.

One CVESD parent, Gloria Ciriza explains her reasons for enrolling her daughter. “One of the things I love the most is knowing she is receiving the best quality instruction from the best teachers, setting her up for an amazing future”.
