When you set out to become an entrepreneur it will require you to set very clear goals along the way. Growing your business, increasing sales and hiring new employees require several micro-goals within them to be executed successfully. This type of workload and challenge is enough to stop many people from pursuing the entrepreneurial career path. You have to be determined from the beginning to be successful — before you even start. If you aren’t fully determined to make it there is a good chance you will crumble under the pressure. Meet Oliver Isaacs, determined beyond belief, his perseverance has propelled him to soaring heights making the nominee list for Forbes 30 under 30.

Oliver Isaacs is a well-known tech-entrepreneur, investor and influencer now with a few hundred thousand followers online. Oliver has managed to grow his social followings at a phenomenal rate, with his following on Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter and Facebook now at a few hundred thousand followers. Oliver is also a world renowned speaker, and motivator, offering fast growing startups advice and founders motivational thoughts about life, and business.

At a young age he founded the website known as Amirite. This was during his days at the highly prestigious London School of Economics. The site set the tone for follow up sites and was said to be the inspiration for sites like Quora. Amirite has already attracted over 1 billion visitors since its lifetime. Oliver then expanded his network and formed partnerships with some of the fastest growing social media influencers around in the UK and US. Oliver likes taking on new challenge and is currently focusing on his fast growing E-Ecommerce business with offices in London and India.

As someone with a burning desire to build things and an interest in all things tech, Oliver decided he should take a risk and not follow the traditional career path of the 9 to 5 work grind. His philosophy is that, “I actually work harder now, then I would if I was working in the City. But it’s the 21st Century and it no longer makes sense to work for someone else if you have an entrepreneurial streak inside you. If you have the hunger and passion to set up a startup or business, go for it and take the risk.

It’s crucial to stay sharp, and that requires that you are constantly learning. Industries, especially the ones I’m in constantly change and evolve — only those that are also growing through constant learning will stay ahead. You will always have competitors breathing down your neck trying to surpass you, but I think it’s important not to compare yourself to others too much”.

For Oliver his achievements didn’t happen overnight. It took him several years of trial and error before seeing any traction. It was after successive failures before he grow his first company to six figures revenue. He then taught himself about E commerce and the power of selling and this new understanding of the power E-commerce gave him the insight to form partnerships with Amazon and their multi-fulfilment network, growing his business fivefold in a matter of weeks.  

Oliver reflects that “if entrepreneurs had the ability to see what was hiding around each turn it would make it much easier — but unfortunately that is not the case. There can be surprises around every corner, even with a well thought out plan and strategy. If you are extremely adaptable it gives you the ability to respond quickly in any situation. This allows you to make decisions that will navigate you out of trouble and allow you to thrive in environments that would sink those that aren’t adaptable. This is what happened with my E-commerce business. Because I was adaptable, it allowed me to not only survive but increase profit by over 500%”.

Oliver emphasizes that plying the quick road to success is sometimes not the best way to go about things. He says:

It’s important to understand that failure is part of the game. Richard Branson said it best: “Few first ventures work out. It is how a beginning entrepreneur deals with failure that sets that person apart. In fact, failure is one of the secrets to success, since some of the best ideas arise from the ashes of a shuttered business.” Oliver says “that if you understand that failure is part of being an entrepreneur, you will take those failures and use them as learning experiences. Real world experience, even failing, will teach you more than you would ever learn in a classroom”.
